BAND & ORCHESTRA Uniform (from the handbook):
MEN:
The uniform is a standard black tuxedo (pants and jacket), white tuxedo shirt, bow-tie, cummerbund, black dress shoes, and black socks. If you already have a tux that fits, there is no need to get another one. You may get this from ANY place that sells formal wear; for your convenience, here is a link to one that is a good deal: Hugh Tuxedo Package, Item 3002. Be aware that these come with the pants UNHEMMED, so they will need that alteration. It is recommended that the hem be done with a very light stitch, as high school boys tend to grow rather rapidly and the hem may need to be altered multiple times.
WOMEN:
The uniform is a long (floor-length) short sleeve black dress that covers the shoulders with black dress shoes. If you already have a dress that fits and meets those criteria, you don’t need to get another one! If you have a dress but are not sure if it would be acceptable, bring it in and show Mr. Benoit and he will let you know either way. If you need to get a dress, you may either make one or purchase one from anywhere you can find something appropriate (floor length, plain matte black, covered shoulders). For your convenience, here is a link to one that is appropriate: Chloe Dress, Item 143. If you order this particular dress, be aware that it comes UNHEMMED; like any dress, if you really want it to fit well you will need to do some alterations (or have someone do them).
A word about shoes – you need to have appropriate dress shoes that fit the formal nature of the dress, but a lot of times we also have to walk a fair distance (such as from case storage to the warm-up room at MPA), so make sure they are either flats or a relatively low/comfortable heel.
GUITAR uniform:
Black pants and solid color top (black is ok, or a bright holiday color). DON’T buy anything new for this, just match that as best you can!
