First, well, Second Football Game this Friday!

Marching Band,

After the storm last week, we hope that we will actually be able to see a football game and perform this Friday!

Our tradition on Fridays of home football games is to dress in blue and gold…any Largo High logo-wear is ok, as are theme shirts.  The idea is to show your school spirit.  For away games, the tradition is to dress up…we’ll talk about that when we actually have an away game.

For marching band members, we will be in uniform this Friday.  Warm-up will begin at 6:00 pm at the usual spot…if you are new, find a vet to be your buddy and show you how we do it (that’s a lot simpler than explaining it!).  Vets – help show the new members where to go, how we do shakos, jackets, etc.  Treat this first game as a LIVE PUBLIC REHEARSAL…once you’ve done it once, you’ll have it.  Actually doing it is by far the easiest way to learn it.

Jackets will either be on or off at all times (as in, we ALL are always doing the same thing).  Expect to have them off a good bit as it will probably be kind of hot still.  Wear your GOLD PRACTICE SHIRT under the uniform (later, we’ll have some games where we wear the theme shirt).

We will march in to the stadium a little before 7:00 pm, with pre-game beginning about 7:10.  Kickoff is at 7:30 pm

We will be in the stands for the first part of the game, then go down partway through the 2nd quarter to prepare for the half-time show.  After the show, you will get a break and the boosters will have drinks (and, new this year, a little food!) for you.  You will also be able to purchase more if you like.  During the 3rd quarter, when the game clock is down to 2:00, if you are not already back in the band area you need to be moving there quickly.  At 1:00 left in the 3rd quarter, you need to be back to hear what we will be playing during the quarter break.

East Lake’s band will be attending; we will send representatives over to meet with them at some point.

After the game, we will march back to the band room together and circle up outside the back door.  EVERYTHING must be put back away and stowed properly before anyone leaves…EVERYONE should pitch in and help make this happen, we all want to go home!  And please be ready to actually leave after that…your band director would like to go home as well!  This is the Labor Day weekend, so no school on Monday (and no rehearsal either).

Looking forward to a live audience!
